Siege engines with their crews, and arrows that miss

Why have we not done siege yet? That’s where today started.

Show the crew

The first round of ideas had the engines on their own. It always makes me a bit sad when a game doesn’t show the people pushing the ram, so round two put crews on everything. The forest folk got a giant beetle instead of a ram, ridden straight at the gate.

That round also gave the rats a pencil as a battering ram. Rats had been tiny up to now, wearing thimbles and bottle caps. From here on they’re human-sized, so anything new for them is junk at a sensible size.

Arrows

Whoever had the most archers was winning. We nearly just made bows weaker, but the equal-cost fights said archers were about fair for their price. The actual problem was arrows landing instantly and never missing.

Now shots fly through the air and you can dodge them by moving. A big group of archers loses to skirmishers ten times out of ten, which is how it should be.

Faces

Faces got bigger eyes and proper brows, because a tiny dot for an eye looks a bit creepy. We tried eye whites too and they came out as one white pixel, which was even creepier. There was also a dark band across everyone’s forehead we kept calling the hairline. It was the brim of a leather cap. The cap sits higher now.

Oh, and the Roman throwing spear was being held level like a rifle, so the skirmishers looked like they were from the wrong century. It’s raised to throw now.
